Hi, my name is Scott Woodward—welcome to my website !

I’m a California native, born in Santa Monica and raised in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Beverly Hills. As a child living in Pacific Palisades, I experienced multiple Malibu wildfires, often evacuating without knowing what we’d return to. The homes I loved always seemed to burn down. That sparked my lifelong interest in architecture—why couldn’t we build fireproof houses?

Fast forward to 1992, after the Los Angeles riots, I left for Scottsdale, Arizona. I became a general contractor, specializing in design and build projects with sustainable materials—ICF, adobe, rammed earth, solar, wind energy, clay plasters, adobe stucco, and recycled materials. But most of all, I focused on a Styrofoam concrete building system known as ICF (Insulated Concrete Form).

I’ve been building with Rastra, an ICF product made by Eterna in Arizona, for over 30 years. I chose this system for its simplicity, durability, and engineered strength. With basic tools and proper engineering, you can construct anything from basements to multi-story buildings. Structural engineers calculate the footings, steel, and concrete strength required, ensuring everything meets city approval—like putting together a puzzle with all the pieces designed to fit.

Over the years, I’ve built homes powered by solar and wind, both on and off the grid, in styles ranging from contemporary to Santa Fe. I’ve worked on flat and hillside lots, basements, and multi-floor structures—all using ICF.

I’ve been involved in the green building movement, given lectures and training, built turnkey homes and structural shells, and taught contractors how to use this building system. I also distribute Rastra blocks and use this website as a resource for homeowners, builders, architects, and engineers.
